Motorola's First Book-Style Fold: Price and Specs Unveiled (2026)

The burning question on everyone's mind: How much will Motorola's first book-style foldable phone cost? Despite my best efforts, Motorola representatives remained tight-lipped, leaving us all in suspense.

Here's what we do know: the Razr Fold boasts a 6.6-inch outer screen and an expansive 8.1-inch 2K LTPO inner display. It's packing some serious camera power with three 50-megapixel rear cameras, a 32-megapixel selfie camera on the cover screen, and a 20-megapixel inner screen camera. It will also be compatible with the new Moto Pen Ultra stylus and is slated for a North American release this summer. That's the extent of the details Motorola has shared, emphasizing that this is an early preview of their work.

This leaves us with many questions, but the most crucial one is the price. Will this be the more affordable option that the foldable phone market desperately needs? Or will it be a luxury item designed to be paired with high-end accessories? Could this be Motorola's way of staking a claim in the market before Apple potentially enters the scene?

Having spent some time with early production samples, I can share some observations. The back panel finishes are impressive. There's a blue-black variant with a woven, textured finish, and a silky white version that, I suspect, will be a magnet for pocket lint. The phone itself feels slim – not as slim as the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7, but noticeably thinner and lighter than the Google Pixel 10 Pro Fold.

Motorola is also bringing over some of its clever software features from its clamshell-style foldables. For instance, you can set it up in a tent mode to automatically display a clock and calendar on the outer screen. The inner screen offers multitasking options, reminiscent of OnePlus's software, allowing you to dock an app partially out of view while keeping it active.

It's a bit surprising to see Motorola entering the book-style foldable market now, several years after this form factor emerged. However, Motorola clearly sees an opportunity, and if there's one thing we can expect from Moto, it's a touch of style. The larger, high-end foldables have largely embraced a more tech-focused aesthetic. The Razr Fold seems to offer a softer, more refined design.

What are your thoughts? Do you think the price point will be a game-changer? Do you think Motorola's design choices will resonate with consumers? Share your opinions in the comments below!
